Gini Taylor, MD

Dr. Virginia Taylor, known to all as “Dr. Gini”, is home-grown: born, raised, educated, and professionally grounded here in Colorado. She graduated from Wheat Ridge High School before heading to CU Boulder for her B.A. in molecular biology and her teaching certificate in secondary science education. She started her career teaching advanced biology, chemistry, and health classes for children with learning disabilities in the Cherry Creek School District at Overland HS. While there, she became an EMT, worked for a local ambulance company, and became an instructor in the Lutheran Hospital’s EMT and cadaver programs, where she still teaches after 30 years.

Dr. Gini graduated from CU’s School of Medicine, and completed her pediatric residency at the University of Colorado Hospital/Children’s Hospital Colorado-Denver. Over the past 20 years, Dr. Gini has worked in primary care and urgent care pediatrics in Denver, while continuing her passion for teaching EMT classes, nursing conferences, medical students and pediatric residents, school teachers and parent organizations. She believes that the key to making the world a better place is through improved health care, education, and volunteerism. Apart from serving on many medical and educational committees, she has used her fluent Spanish to help children on medical missions to Peru and Ecuador, her medical training to help veterinarians in surgery at a local animal shelter, and her teaching skills to bring the latest brain research on learning disabilities/dyslexia to educate teachers and parents.

Dr. Gini believes that listening to parents and patients is the key to optimizing health care. Pediatrics is truly the best small-group teaching setting, where the triad of parent-patient-pediatrician works best collaboratively to reach common goals. Dr. Gini is thrilled to be joining Denver West Pediatrics where time with patients is honored, so that listening and teaching can occur to help children thrive!

Dr. Gini is married to a Peruvian cyclist, who in addition to improving her Spanish and cycling, has given her the gift of perspective with appreciation for first vs. third world problems. Together they share their love for their daughter, celebrate family, passionately teach others about the gift of dyslexia, and head outside to cycle and travel whenever possible.

Dr. Gini is currently accepting newborns and any patients from her previous practice.
