Valana was born and raised in Denver, CO. She attended the University of Chicago where she earned a BA in Public Policy. In 2012, Valana completed the University of Colorado Child Health Associate/Physician Assistant program with specialized training in pediatrics. Valana is committed to providing high quality, evidence-based care to everyone regardless of their socioeconomic status. She spent 11 years working as a primary care PA at federally qualified health centers.
After the humbling transition to motherhood and her own breastfeeding journey, she became passionate about helping families breastfeed. After three years of coursework and mentorship, Valana became an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) in 2022. She loves helping families find practical, sustainable solutions to meet their breastfeeding goals.
Valana is proficient in Spanish. She enjoys traveling, skiing, and yoga and spends weekends with her husband and 2 children.
